Sister2 and Brother-in-Law have tied the knot!
It was a beautiful day, and a beautiful wedding, and my entire family was awesome, and nothing went wrong. Well, I suppose technically the officiant (that would be me) could have told the guests to sit back down after the bride made it to the altar in a more punctual fashion, but I hadn't gotten that far into the speechifying before Sister2 reminded me.
Highlights:
- Being done with my public speaking task!
- We successfully made my non-sentimental mother cry.
- Sister2 was absolutely gorgeous.
- Sister3 killed it with her maid of honor speech! Considering that she was writing it on the bus ride over, it was most impressive.
- The DJ opened up the mic for anyone wanting to make speeches, and there were plenty. I don't know when I've been so amused. (Plus all the women made jokes and all the guys were sentimental; love the role reversals going on there!)
- The music. Sister2 and Brother-in-Law made awesome choices, so we didn't have to sit through all the lame pop music that typically plays at weddings, but we still had plenty to dance to.
- Speaking of which: seeing my parents dance. A fairly rare occurrence, but one to behold! (Papa does this stomping, swaying thing with lots of elbows and hand clapping. You can't get too close for fear of collision, but it puts a smile on everyone's face.)
- The photo booth. Despite being home-made, it turned out well, and most people got their photos (the photo printer was a wee bit slow - everyone else will get them on FB).
To sum up: Congratulation Sister2 and Brother-in-Law!!!
Have you been to any weddings lately? What is your favorite thing about weddings?
P.S. I borrowed that top photo from some other guest at the wedding. Technically Facebook owns it since it was posted there, but just in case the original cell-phone photographer sees it, great photo! Giving you credit while maintaining your anonymity.
